Ivanhoe V Ruislip Victoria – 30 May 2010

A match lost but one Ives should have one or at least got closer to winning as shown by still having 5 wickets in hand at the end of the match.

Bowling first both Andy C (8 overs 0 for 16) and Max (8 overs 0 for 12) restricted the opposition in blustery conditions to only 30 runs in the first 16 overs.  After the bowling changes the first wicket fell to Richard to well taken one handed caught and bowled off a skier and the Andy H repeated the effort with a caught and bowled of his own.  Richard finished with 2 for 32 from 7 overs thanks also to one of two catches by Adrian and Andy H 1 for 30 from 7 overs.  It was then left to Ciaran (8 overs 0 for 34) and Jonathan in his first match for the Ives taking 2 for 34 to bring the Ruislip Victoria innings to a close at 160 for 6.

Four an over was needed and after Bob fell early for 5, Denis (46) and Adrian(44) made sure Ives were exactly on the rate, passing reaching 100 in the 25th over. At this point Denis and Adrian both quickly departed and Max and Phil K came together and although the rate went up to 5 with 8 overs to go the win still looked on with 7 wickets still in hand.  Phil K departed for 11 and rather than looking to keep the score ticking over by taking 1’s and 2’s attempts to win the game in boundaries foundered on the slow wicket. With Richard run out without facing the innings closed 14 short of victory on 147 for 5  (Max 24no,  Andy C 3no).
