Ivanhoe v Bamville – 19 June 2010

They say that catches win matches and whilst the the result may not have been different, giving Bamville’s top scorer four or five lives didn’t help to keep there eventual score down.

Bamville won the toss and elected to bat making a steady start as Max (7 overs 0 for 32) and Andy (8 overs o for 32) opened the bowling.  The introduction of Andy H (8 overs 3 for 34) and Jonathan (5 overs 2 for 33) brought the breakthrough, each taking a caught and bowled and with ‘buckets’  Christie grabbing 3 catches, wickets fell regularly.  However failing to take the chances offered allowed Bamville to keep the rate ticking along and despite 2 wickets from Lionel (8 overs 2 for 36) including a third caught and bowled, one wicket from Denis (4 overs 1 for 35) and a fine run out by Phil P  Bamville posted 204 for 9 at the close.

The reply got off to the worst possible start as Denis and Phil P quickly found themselves back in the pavilion with only 4 on the board.  However a 3rd wicket stand of 66 between Lionel (12) and Max with a well struck 69 steadied the innings.  However after there departure only Matthew P with 13 And Chris B with 6 made any sort of score as wickets fell and the innings closed on 123.
