Ivanhoe v Druids – 4 June 2010

First match of the Norfolk Tour and a 20/20 match to start on Friday evening against Druids, another touring side from Harrogate .

Put in to bat by Adrian and with the bowlers having only short spells Druids struggled to maintain a decent scoring rate in the first few overs as wickets fell and it was only an innings of 60 by Moorby and a couple of big scoring overs towards the end of the innings which allowed them to post 116 all out with 2 balls to go.  For the bowling Max (according to Druids scorebook!) took 3 for 2 in 4 overs, Andy H 1 for 23, Andy C 1 for 25, Ciaran with an excellent spell 3 for 10, Richard 1 for 27 and Adrian 1 for 20.  Two caught & bowleds by Max and Ciaran, another catch for Max, and a fine slip catch by Phil P helped keep the score down to what was a reasonable target.

In reply Ives got off to a quick scoring start with Richard and Max taking on the Druids bowlers to score 51 in the first 6 overs with Richard eventually falling for  32 and Max out shortly after for 34.  As a result only 65 were needed off the remaining 14 overs.  Chris Baddeley (15) and Andy H (9) kept the score going  but the old problem of  not keeping the score ticking by finding singles when boundaries are hard to come by arose again as the scoring rate fell away to leave 10 required off the final over as the innings, with Adrain 9no, closed 6 short on 110.
