Ivanhoe v Wendover    24 May 2007

Following our original opposition crying off on Friday lunchtime we were delighted to be able to organise a game at short notice against Wendover CC and so took to the field on a sunny but increasingly windy afternoon.

For the third week in a row Ive’s won the toss and on a good looking track elected to bat, a decision which was vindicated by an opening stand of 104 in 26 overs between Malcom (61) and Den (28) who set the ground to push the score along in the last 14 overs to finish the innings on 207 for 4, mainly as a result of  5th wicket stand of 65 in the last 8 overs from Mat and Adrian who both improving their average by finishing the innings undefeated on 68no and 29no respectively.  For Wendover, Green bowled well going for only 16 runs in his 8 overs as did two younger members of the team, Robinson (2 for 33 in 6 overs) and Ebsworth (2 for 38 in 5 overs).

Once again Andy and Lawrence set the tone at the beginning of the Wendover innings, and helped by some excellent ground fielding conceded only 36 runs in the first 16 overs. Andy was again among the wickets (8-2-14-2). Phil P & Saj replaced the opening pair and continued the theme, Phil (5-0-23-2), Saj (6-0-21-3), assisted by the Wendover skipper being run out by Saj.  Wendover’s major contributor was Morley who was unfortunate not to make his 50, being bowled by Phil P on 49.

The innings closed with Adnan having his first spell for the club (4-1-8-1) and Richard taking the final wicket (1.4-0-10-1) leaving Wendover all out for 107, for another fine Ives win.
